Dragnet 1.0 - November 2004

SourceGear Dragnet is a web-based issue tracking system that provides access to item information in a standardized format. Designed to be both flexible and usable, Dragnet’s issue tracking system can function as a simple bug tracking system or a general-purpose project management tool. Dragnet offers full, rich integration with both of SourceGear's version control products, Vault and SourceOffSite.

Dragnet uses Microsoft SQL Server to store issue tracking information and is built on .NET technology.

Installation Requirements

SourceGear Dragnet has the following Operating System and software requirements:

Browser

Internet Explorer 5.5 or later is recommended, but other browsers will work. The browser must have JavaScript and cookies enabled.

Upgrading from Beta Versions

It is recommended that you make a SQL backup of your Dragnet database (sgdragnet) prior to installing the Dragnet 1.0 release version.

To upgrade from a Dragnet Beta version, uninstall Dragnet from Add/Remove Programs first, then install the release version. The uninstaller will not delete your database unless you explicitly tell it to.

The Dragnet 1.0 release installer will upgrade your database to the release version during the installation process.

Release Contents

  1. Dragnet. Dragnet is a .NET Web Application installed as an IIS virtual directory. Dragnet uses SQL server to store issue tracking information.
  2. Dragnet Web Service. Dragnet includes a Web service (DragnetWebService.asmx) that can be used to access the contents of your Dragnet database through XML Web Services.

License Numbers

Dragnet requires a demo license before any user other than Admin can log in. If you downloaded Dragnet from our website, you should have received a license number by email. If you do not have a license number, go to:
http://www.sourcegear.com/dragnet/downloads.html

and select the "Demo Serial Number" link. This will automatically send you a license number for use in demoing Dragnet. Once you have a license number, login onto Dragnet (using the "Admin" login and password that was specified during installation), and add the license number on the Licenses page.

Dragnet URL

By default the Dragnet application will be located at the URL: http://server-hostname/Dragnet

Dragnet Authentication

Dragnet offers different types of password authentication methods: authentication through Dragnet, authentication through Vault, authentication through SourceOffSite and Authentication through Active Directory. If you plan to use Active Directory for authentication, Dragnet must be set up to impersonate a domain user. To set up identity impersonation during install, choose the “Custom - web.config identity impersonation” option from the IIS Process Model installation dialog. To change this after install see the Administration Pages-> Setup->Active Directory section of the Dragnet Help files.
