Version 1.1 Testing

Performance tests were conducted at SourceGear Corporation in January, 1999. The tests compared the time to complete recursive Checkin and Checkout operations using the Visual SourceSafe 6.0 Explorer and the SourceOffSite Professional Edition Client over a 19.2K RAS connection. The project conconsisted of 100 text files each less than 2K in size. The SourceOffSite Client completed the operations up to 12 times faster than the SourceSafe Explorer.

These testing results have been independently validated by Intel Corporation as a part of their own evalution process before purchasing SourceOffSite.

Method:

• Timed the recursive Checkout of the entire project (no local copies were present)
  
• Fifteen files were modified and saved
  
• Timed the recursive Checkin of the entire project
  
• There were three independent Checkout and Checkin sequences that were timed
